OUR PROCESS

Producing media is a creative process. And, as with all creative processes, this takes time. The more time is given to the project, the closer the final will be to the desired outcome. But having said that, if you’re in a bind and desperately need someone to create a visual miracle for you in a short timeframe, give us a call and we’ll see how we can help.

After receiving your brief overview, we will set up an initial meeting with you (which is complimentary!) either by phone or in person, to clarify some details and try to understand exactly what your project entails. We might even give you some suggestions on different creative approaches.

We consider doing an estimate for you as a collaborative process. We want to get the balance between job expectations and your budget just right so we are more than happy to discuss options with you. Once we’re on the same page and the approach is approved, we’ll draw up an estimate working with known factors and your budget which you will need to look over and sign off before we proceed to the next stage.

The Pre Production stage sets up the whole project. This is the most important stage to plan and spend time in to ensure the outcome you want is the outcome that is achieved. Pre Production includes things like further concept development, scheduling, scripting, casting, location scouting, storyboarding and animatics.

The Production stage is where everything that’s planned comes together. This can be the most expensive stage, but with good planning and efficient shooting, it doesn’t have to be. With a team of directors, producers, talent, lights and audio, we set the scene and film.

Then after we’ve shot what we need, our post team edits together the footage with already existing content, graphics and music. We’ll do a couple of draft edits for you to review and give feedback before delivering the final edit.

After the edit is finalised, delivery can be as simple as sending you a file or as complex as technical CAD approvals, QC. Just let us know early in the Pre Production phase which delivery format you require.

PRE PRODUCTION

This is the planning and research stage. The more time we spend in this stage refining everything you want communicated, the better the final outcome will be and the closer the final invoice will be to the actual quote. This includes writing a job brief, scripting, organising people in a filming schedule etc.

SCRIPTING

How to prepare a script for video:

Either hire a copywriter or do the copywriting yourself. Provide us with a finished script or get us to write the script based on information you provide.

Consider:

1. a good video script is economical and concise with its words. Remember you are writing for the spoken word (not written word!) so be mindful to avoid repetition, repetition, repetition! One way to test your script is to either read it out aloud to a colleague or record yourself reading it out aloud and listen back.

2. The spoken word doesn't have to communicate everything. Having visuals support the script  - eg: the person doesn't need to say their name and position... we can have that information in a lower third graphic on the screen! That's why you chose video!

3. Remember numbers and stats date stamp the video - which is fine if that's what you want to do. But if you're wanting something timeless, avoid mentioning numbers of employees, annual turnover, stats to date etc.

4. If you'd like us to write your script for you, give us the info in point form and grouped by theme

Production

Ready to record!

We offer half day shoots (up to 5 hours) or full day shoots (up to ___ hours????) Why half or full

Filming - camera gear, location & weather, filming schedule - be mindful of how long it takes to film eg IV's allow enough time to change location, setup, mic up etc. It usually takes 1 hour to setup at the beginning and 30mins to pack down

Voice Over: we do a VO placeholder in-house to determine timing for the edit. Then you have the option to go with a Professional Service if you prefer

Post Production

THIS IS A GREAT PLACE FOR YOUR TAGLINE.

This is where everything that has been filmed as well as other content (photos, videos, music) that has been provided is ingested and captured.

Timecoded Content

If you would like to be involved in the initial editing decision making process we can provide the raw footage with timecode so you can give feedback. On the other hand, if you want to leave it up to the professionals, our editors can decide on what content to use - just keep in mind that if you have a lot of content, this can work out to be more expensive!

Draft Content Edit - has no overlay footage, it is just identifying the key spoken content

Draft Edit - includes overlay shots, graphic content & music

Final - final approved video!

Delivery - where do you want this video to be played? This will often determine what format you need it to be in.
